Swimmers
The Competitive Development Squads are ideal for youngsters eight to seventeen years who:
- enjoy swimming training and gala competitions
- aspire to be selected for their school swimming team
- aspire to reach the Surrey County Championship qualifying standard & beyond!
- want to use swimming training to help them keep fit for participation in other sports
Squad Entry Criteria
Junior Squad - competent in at least three strokes
Inter & Senior Squads - competitive & legal in all four strokes

Training Venues
The Competitive Development Squads train at the Surrey Sports Park/ University of Surrey, Aldershot Garrison & the Guildford Spectrum
Competition Programme
Swimmers in the Competitive Development Squads participate in local league galas & are be invited to compete in local level 2 & 3 open meets plus the Surrey County Championships and other championships for which they are eligible. The annual Club Championships is for all members of Guildford City
Promotion to High Performance Squads
Members of the Competitive Development Squads who achieve the relevant qualifying times will be considered for promotion to the High Performance section of the Club
Training & Squad Structure
Training is well structured with an annual plan in place, with particular emphasis on perfecting strokes and water skills as well as building endurance. The Competitive Development program is made up from four main squads; Junior Squad, Inter Squad, Senior Squad & Keep Fit
“Lite” Squads
There are places available in the Competitive Development Squads for those who want to only participate in a few sessions per week. The “Lite” Squads are integrated with the main groups but are only offered specific sessions in which they may train. See Training Times @ Guildfordcitysc.com for details.

One weekly dry land training session is available to those members of Senior CDS who consistently attend and complete a minimum of 8 hours pool training per week.
